Marilyn Monroe gets her own Barbie on her 100th birthday but fans are not happy!

Hollywood’s screen siren is getting the ultimate pink-carpet tribute.

To mark what would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday, Mattel has officially launched a special-edition Barbie in her honour.

Designed in collaboration with The Estate of Marilyn Monroe, the collectible pays homage to one of the most famous fashion moments in cinema history—her performance of "Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend" in the 1953 classic Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

Barbie wears a floor-length pink gown complete with an oversized bow, long opera gloves, platinum blonde waves, her signature red lips, and, of course, plenty of sparkling jewellery. The doll is priced at $81.

However, social media users were not pleased. One user commented, "It's missing something," while another wrote, "This is disappointing. It just looks like Barbie in a Marilyn costume. The face and hair are wrong."

A third user said, "I do think the execution of this doll doesn’t truly live up to 100 years of MM IMO, especially considering the price point. For example, the hair is parted on the incorrect side & she should have had a widow's peak (& overall styled better). The plastic playline-looking jewellery also doesn’t add a luxe look."

Another added, "Y'all have made so many celebrity dolls that actually look like the person, why couldn’t y'all make this doll actually look like Marilyn?"
